Post 10: English language challenges

Hi everyone! THIS is the last post of English ;D and this is the end (I think that). So I’ll write about the blog experience and the course in general.

I’ve taken all courses of English (since A1, till today in B+1). When I entered to University and took the test I think that I get in other category, I mean, I think that I get in some intermediate course (something like A2), so I realize that I’ve learnt a lot of English, but is strange, because I realize that about a semester ago.

So, with respect to the question, everybody knows that the English is an international language, and at present is used for a lot of countries in business, in conferences, among others. Our career can get job in other countries, so is important to learn other language. I like the blog-system, is a fine way to evaluate the grammar, and you can do question directly to the teacher. The “writing” is difficult to me, and I think that the only way to improve that is trough keep in writing and practice and practice; this is like the “talking” you need to put attention in the sounds, listen and try to speak.

A way to learn English good is visit to another country (with English language, of course!) I never go to another country, but I want to visit one, because I could learn more English than any institute (I think that).

Post 9: Good and bad points of 2013

Hi everyone. Today I’ll write about things that I happen in this year. In general, this year has been different. I’ve learnt new things in the university, and I’ve met much people. In the beginning of 2013 I went to Frutillar, it was my first time there! In this trip I learned a lot of plants and ecosystems, and I saw beautiful landscapes!

So, this year I was assistant-laboratory (in the first semester), and I’d like to continue in the next year, because I’ve learnt a lot about plants. But, this year I’ve missed practice some sport, so I want to dedicate more time in the next year for do something (I’ve researched about swimming pool from our university for take some classes there!)

This year I don’t have more free time, and I don’t like that :( I think that this year I gathered with my friends less than the past year, and I really want to see them! Because this year was full of stuffs, and it’s my first time that I feel so tired, I really want to go to sleep all days (especially in this semester) I don’t know why this semester has been too tiring! So I hope that I pass all my subjects in the university haha and take vacations. The next summer I will take vacations in Argentina, because my cousin get married (yuhuu :3)

In general, I liked this year, but I thing that I haven’t done a lot of things that I want to do, maybe to take more rides in bicycle, or simply go out and enjoy ;)

Post 7 : A career-related article

Every summer the fire forests capture the all attention, because in this season they are more frequently. The fire forest not only destroys a lot of tree area, it destroys houses of people that live around the forest too! Actually the development population increases and in the future it is pose a problem, because the amount of people evacuated will increase too. But recently the quality of detected and extinguished methods is better than the past, but the real way for to finish it is the prevention of these.

Spain has spent in a lot of methods for detected the fire forests, but the prevention is abandoned. Even, the “conatos” (when burned less of hectare) and the “fires” (when burned more of hectare) have increase in two spanish communities! And the principal causes are for stubble burning and the burning for to prepare a piece of land for agriculture.

Other factor that affects the fires-combat is the weather condition, for example the dryness for high temperatures in summer and the strong winds difficult this work. And in the future the global warming increases the frequency of these fires.

In my career I had learnt a lot of fires forests, and in general Chile has very good methods for prevention these tragedies. The Forest Corporation (CONAF) implements propaganda for to prevent these tragic successes.

Post 5 : How to avoid killing animals

Hi! Today I’ve saw an interesting video about a great idea from Andras Forgacs! In his video you can hear about bio-fabrication of leather! He explains that all begin from a crazy idea, but isn’t being too mad. We are around seven billion people and we need animal-resources! Actually the science’s incredible and, if it can make parts of human bodies, why not can it do leather or meat from animals?

It’s a fantastic idea, and he says that this method does no harm the animal.

The method consists in take cells from the animal, isolate the skins cells and multiply them! Later, these cells produce collagen. Also this method isn’t necessary to remove hair from the animal, and another thing that I think that is too important that the method don't produce waste.

In general I like the idea that he had, but I don’t know that the vegetarians or vegans people leave their life-habits for this implementation; I said that they chosen these food-habits not only for the animal murder, but with the fact of stop eat meat as such.

Really I think that you must to be aware with your opinions, obviously, but I mean that another day I saw a guy with a leather-bag, and on it he’d put a patch that it said “Animal Liberation” hahaha, he cause me shame!

Post 4 : Climate Change

The scientist says the climate change is caused for humans, and that will be increases if the greenhouse emissions to the atmosphere continue to rise.

Hundred of scientists that researched of climate change emit a new report than says than the temperatures aren’t rise like they expecting. They were waiting a faster change than the result. They explain that, and say than the climate’s natural variability influences in this process, but scientists emphasizes than it is happening, clearly!

We can see effects from this change; for example “ice is melting faster” or “ocean is becoming more acidic”, they implicate to destroy the habitat of a lot of animals!

In my opinion, I think that we don’t have the ability for stop the climate change, but we can minimize it! The carbon dioxide emissions are a natural process, because the entire organisms breathe! But the humans increase it with their cities and technologies. But, with the same capacity we can to apply a process like geoengineering! Or do something more simple, more daily, for example use more efficient cars, or ways to minimized the carbon dioxide, which be rise in the future.

Another important topic than Susan Solomon (professor) notes is the “increased frequency of heat waves”, than it could be implicates others things.

Post 3 : How to stop desertification

Hello classmates! Today I’ll write about an interesting video about desertification in the world. Associated to the video… really I know something about this topic, because lately is a trending topic! but I’m impressing for a lot of things that Allan Savory says. In general I associated the shepherding with damage for the soil, but when you use that of correct and natural way you can transform and to recover a soil.

This topic has a lot of coincidences with my last post! And now I have another opinion with this theme. Something that I’d never imagined is the recover speed: now I want to know more about the nutrient cycle associated at this recover form.

It is a really natural form, and I agree with him when he says that the efficient form for to recover a soil is by natural form. The nature is wise, and the solution always is in the same place where is the problem, I’ve thought that, and is intelligent his work, because its dissemination is faster by the people in the zone. This is important for keep the methodology.

I'll try to read more about this topic! See you in other post!

Post 2 : Majors in Forestry

Hi guys, today I’ll write about majors from my career. But I have a problem: In every class (that I like it) I found the topics interesting, and I try to imagine my future in that area: sometimes I like the Ecology, the interaction between a lot of organism with its environment, but actually I’ve interested in Restoration. I don’t know much about it, but its objective is to recover a site by natural ways, for example by biological control for infestation, or by pioneer plants for recover the soil, among others.

I like a lot this area, because keep the balance between the organisms in the Ecosystem means keep the temperature for us and for others animals, also it means keep the home for another organisms, etc!

Really, I've don’t researched about it, but I think that in Chile is probably get a job for this area, because our country need to investigate more for recover the sites damaged for pine-plantation or by mining industry. Nevertheless, I want to get a travel in other country, perhaps Canada, because this country had a lot of studios in the forests.

But really really need to research more, it is only the beginning...

Post 1 : A Country you'd like to visit

Hello! Today I restart the activity in the blog! How are you? I hope that you feel fine.

I begin this new semester writing about a country that I’d like to visit.

I've thought and dreamed about it a lot. I like travelling! and I hope take a trip in all Chile.

But, talking about other countries… I’m interested in knowing New Zealand, why? because the landscapes from this country is really beautiful. I like the nature in general, the mountains, the forests… and New Zealand has a lot biomes.

New Zealand is an island, so it has a lot of endemic animals and kind of plants. Chile has a lot of endemic too! Because our country have natural limits for separate the different species. New Zealand has a lot of endemic birds, and I like so much that.

When I look for a country, I pay attention in the nature from the place. I’m not really good for the meals, so I don’t try to taste a lot of food in another country.

Freak datum-> The Lord of the Rings has been recorded in the beautiful landscapes from New Zealand!

Post 10 : Your Blogging Experience

Hello everyone! Today (the same day that the last post) well, today I write about English Blog’s Experience!

I’ve never has a blog before, and is interesting, because I write the things that I want (with a little border, obviously) but is new for me.

I think that this method is effective, because is comfortable, and help us to practice the writing way. Personally I’ve learned a lot of redaction with the blog, I feel that I don’t think a lot before to write a phrase, I just write, and later I correct my wrongs and my vocabulary. In general, write in the blog forces us practice many aspects.

It’s important that the topics we’ll write in the blog be associated with own career, because we need learn vocabulary about the forest area: when we read a scientific paper, we need understand the concepts like xylem, roots, among others.

But it’s important write about themes that we like too! For example own hobbies, favorities activities, topics for own interest, etc, because throught of this form we practice to keep a fluent conversation. For example, when I write about my interests I write faster than when I write about a web page for seek forestry information! However it was necessary for us, although write about that it’s so bored.

Well, in general I liked this experience, and I hope that this form for to learning continue in the future, but from own homes, haha.

Post 9 : Your Favourite Subject

Today I’ll write about a subject that I like in the course of this term.

This term has been difficult: The past year I had annual subjects! And everything was easier than this term.  Or, I refer that the past year was relaxer, because the subjects were slower in the academic program.

However, exists a subject that I’ve liked: “Statistics and informatics foundations”, Why? I don’t really know for what, but I’ve learned a lot in this subject! I thought that the stadistics were so bored, but when you really learn something, and you understand it, you like that.

The first unit that we learn with the professor was “Programaion” in the computer’s room. This was fun and interesting, because that was new for me.

Later we learn about stadistics and probability functions, and the professor do a lot of exercises that I understand very good.

The last unit we don’t reach completely, because we have a little strike, so we continuos this unit in the next semester. This unit is about a program called “R”, and it is for calculate a lot of functions with relation at stadistics.

It’s very interesting, I like a lot!

post 8 Your future Job

A lot of time has been passed since the last time when I wrote here. Whatever, I'm here again for write about my plans!

Sincerely, I don't know nothing about my future, I have a plans, but I don't really clear about it.

I love forestry in general, but my favourite area is the soil's science (edaphology)! I really love it! because mixes the fieldwork and the laboratory work.

When I studied this area in the university I began to research more about soils in the forest. I would like take a major about this topic,  because I think that the soils are very important in the ecosystems and in its balance.

Later, I would like work in describe soils in special area, or maybe  start an investigation about the interaction between a specific tree with a specific soil.

However, I've interested about another topic too. The fungi are very beautiful and unknown, and they have a lot of interaction with the  previous topic :3

So, in general I don't like fieldwork... I NEED DO FIELDWORK! 

Well, about my strengths and weaknesses, my strengths: when something really like me, I dedicate a lot of time and I put a lot of endeavor for do that, always I investigate of more what somebody tell me. But my weaknesses: I get stressed easily, and I'm a little grumpy, but it is sometimes, when a I have a previous problem.

The above is what I think now! because  forestry career has a lot of topics that I don't know still! And maybe, I'll know in the future another topic that I love more than the previous topics about soils and mushrooms! Hahaha

Okay, I hope have a real answer in the future, is I'm indecisive still. Really I don't wanna work, I don't wanna studying, I'm only wanna play the guitar all day (8) okay not, I just kiddin' :(

Post 7: A photograph

Hello! Today I’ll write about a photography that I love. I‘ve chosen this picture, because is so special for me and I remember all when it was taken. I’ll tell you how…

A simple Saturday I and my best friend Valita taken a ride and bought something, and after we went to “Parque de las Esculturas” where we always go, because there is peaceful place and it have a lot of grass and trees. But! When we entered on the park, my friends appear with a cake, balloons and a lot of food (it was a really surprise) and they sang me the “happy birthday” and made me a “malteo” while the people walk around there. Haha, it was so fun.

This photo was taken when my friends leave me in the ground after “malteo”, and I don’t stop to laughing. Later, we ate cake (made by Naty and Valita), soya hamburgers (made by Koni, because she’s vegetarian) and natural juice (made by Christel). I ate a lot, and after we went to the Gabi’s house :-)

They prepared me a surprise birthday, and I don't suspect anything about it! They organized all in the school, Valita invited me to walk at park, and I never thought that the walking was for that. Also, they’ve always celebrated my birthday only in the school.

I don’t remember who taken the photo, but was someone of my friends.  

This picture is important for me, because they (my friends) are a very nice people.

Post 6 : Environmental Issues

Okay, with respect the topic. I’m gonna write today about an environmental issue in specific. Personally, I’ve really interested about Thermoelectric centers. I don´t like them, I think that they are the worst energy production, meanwhile exists others ways to produce energy for our country.

It’s necessary invest for producing others forms efficient less, like Hydroelectric and Wind-energy. The types of energies mentioned before have an important impact too, but it is easier revert the environmental's damage.

The Thermoelectric centers produce gases that increase the Global warming. But not only that, the thermoelectric centers need refrigerate their motors and machinery, is for that they are near of natural water course or sea. When they use this water to refrigerate, they return same water but it is warmer than before. This is a very important problem, why? 

The water is a home for a lot of microorganisms, plants (algae) and animals; and the temperature is a vital factor for their survival! An example about this is turtles affected by Thermoelectric Castilla. This center is the biggest thermoelectric of Latin America! The people and fishermen that use the water recourse will be compensated, but the money can replace their work? The nature beauty? The wildlife?

But, why projects like mentioned before are approved? A lot of analysis talk us about impact from thermoelectric centers and how they affect the culture patrimony, because the people will have to leave the intervened zone.

But, is necessary stop our country development? No, only we need more awareness and looking ahead. Today is important the easy-money, but if we don’t prevent the pollution excess, tomorrow the well being of nature will be worst, thus our health too.

Post 4 : Your Favourite Films

Hi guys! Today I'll speak about my favourite film! In general I like all the films by Quentin Tarantino, but my favourite movie by him it's Pulp Fiction. The director uses the same photography and style in his films, and I think that “it” is something that I really I like it. He uses a lot of violence in his films, but the irony and humor offset this violence.

The principal actors are:

John Tavolta as Vincent Vega
Samuel L. Jackson as Jules Winnfield
Uma Thurman as Mia Wallace
Bruce Willis as Butch Coolidge, and
Ving Rhames as Marsellus Wallace

Pulp Fiction it’s a movie that I really like because the plot it’s very funny, because talk about four stories that in the last part of movie they end together.

In the first part Vincent and Jules (couple of criminals) gone to a apartment and they've searched a suitcase that it’s property of Marsellus (somebody like a big boss from there) The suitcase's content it’s a secret during all the movie, but it appears be something very important and expensive.

In the second part Marsellus had asked to Vincent for a favor (take a ride his wife Mìa). During movie have happened a lot of things very dramatic, and only some of this things end well (and others finished very bad, but funny).

In general the movie it’s about the criminals, drugs, violence and ironic. This film is considered a Pop Culture’s icon! Also this movie won a Oscar for the best original movie-script. Also, it received more than forty international awards and many other nominations.

Here I leave my favourite scene, when Vincent and Mia dancing "Twist" and they won a trophy.  :-)

I just write today about a web page that it’s very useful and interesting about my career. Forestry it’s a career that include a lot of nature and ecosystem studies, and ChileFlora has a lot information about them.

Post 2 : Favourite Concert or Exhbition

Hi again!

In this post I'll speak about my favourite band. Really, I like a lot of bands, but I like so much Red Hot Chili Peppers! They play something like Funk Rock, but really they play various kinds of style. I hear them since I was a child, and I know a lot of songs by them. I don't know why I like them too much, but I think that the lead vocalist it's fine, and the bass it's strong. I like when the bass sounds a lot! My favourite song is Scar Tissue, because it sounds very quiet and the guitar too. Another song that I like so much is Dosed, but the lyrics from this song it's very sad :(
